Peace Walkers in AZ

Tom Schmitz, Amy Kaplan, Jonathan Meier, Tak Schmitz, and Clara Wilson walked across the US for Peace. Jonathan  started the walk on Oct. 17, 2003, in Portland Maine. Amy, Tom, Tak and Clara  met up with Jon the end of October in New York City, and they all walked through 23 states to their final destination, San Francisco, on Feb. 29, 2004.

Everyone they met along the way was generous, compassionate, and optimistic about life. Many of us DOP supporters spent time with these 5 wonderful people in early February 2004, as they walked across Arizona. On Feb. 2, they walked to various voting locations in snowy Sedona, urging people to vote with their heart.

It was Arizona's Democratic Presidential Preference Election. Shirley, Terri, Cathy, Lianne, Pash, Marty, George, Eric, Karen, Jeremy, Charles, Glen, Rita, and so many more of us were honored and blessed to spend time with these 5 humble and yet empowering souls. Please visit their website.

AZDOP Meets SBA Advocate

On Jan. 27, 2004, several female community leaders were invited by StarShine Academy's Trish Adams to meet  U.S. Small Business Administrator and Chief Counsel for Advocacy, Tom Sullivan. www.sba.gov/advo We gathered at Trish's charter school ( www.starshineacademy.org ) in Phoenix for 90 minutes to discuss the role of women in Arizona's small businesses.

Michael Hull, the U.S. Small Business Advocate for Arizona, California, Guam, Hawaii and Nevada also attended. The discussion focused on the influence that Arizona women demonstrate in regards to peace, children, schools, music, econ- omics, politics, hospice, spirituality and community. We intend this to be the first of many local and national discussions with Tom Sullivan and Michael Hull.
